Few other cities in the United States are as culturally rich as Dallas. An abundance of cowboys, cuisine, major companies, and more can all be found in Texas’s third-largest city. So whether you’re just visiting for the weekend or are there on business, you have your pick from a wide selection of great hotels.

If you’re wondering where to stay, don’t panic, we’ve got you covered. I live just a 3-hour drive from Dallas and these are the places that I like to stay at when I’m visiting. The hotels on this list are based on our editors’ and T+L readers’ positive experiences — many of which made it onto our exclusive World’s Best Awards and It List — and also include areas outside of the city, including Frisco and Fort Worth.

Why I’m the Expert

Joe Niehaus is a Kentucky native turned Texas resident, covering the world’s best hotels, resorts, and destinations. (Yes, he still uses “y’all” in his daily conversations.) He’s confident in the selections below based on years of worldwide travel and hotel experience, including personal experience with several of the international brands listed below.

“Arriving at Bowie House on a Friday night, I was surrounded by fun-loving Texans in cowboy hats and fur vests leaving their Rivian SUVs with the valet. They walked through the art- and antiques-filled lobby, richly adorned with Texas longhorns, cowhide-upholstered club chairs, wool rugs, and a riot of horse-themed objects: paintings, statues, photographs, saddles. The wood-paneled bar overflowed with elegantly dressed women laughing over bottles of wine; older couples slurping down oysters by the fireplace, families carving into steaks in the Bricks & Horses restaurant, and young professionals perusing the impressive art (all collected by the hotel’s charismatic owner, Dallas businesswoman Jo Ellard).”

Know Before You Go

Summers can get HOT

Texas is known for its heat. I didn’t truly appreciate this until I moved there in the dead of summer. If extreme heat isn’t your preferred temperature, consider visiting Dallas in the fall or winter months even though prices may be a bit higher.

Try the Texas barbecue

What else are you going to eat when you’re in the Lone Star state? Cattleack Barbecue (about 20 minutes from downtown) and Terry Black’s (in downtown) are two can’t-miss spots to try this iconic Texas cuisine.

Shop til you drop

Dallas is known for its world-class shopping. Neiman Marcus’ headquarters is located there and there are plenty of other high-end and local shops to choose from, so bake some time into your schedule to do some shopping.
