A city as creative as Berlin always has something new going on — from art exhibitions and buzzy restaurants to stylish new hotels such as Precise Tale Berlin. With so much to see and do, it’s no wonder why travelers valued centrality when selecting their favorite stays in the German capital. Read on to find out which properties claimed the top spots!

How Voting Works

Every year for our World's Best Awards survey, T+L asks readers to weigh in on travel experiences around the globe — to share their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more. Over 186,000 T+L readers completed the 2024 survey. A total of more than 700,000 votes were cast across over 8,700 properties (hotels, cities, cruise lines, etc.).

Hotels were classified as either resort hotel, city hotel, inn, or safari lodge based on their location and amenities, and they were specifically rated on the criteria below:

  • Rooms/facilities
  • Location
  • Service
  • Food
  • Value

For each characteristic, respondents could choose a rating of excellent, above average, average, below average, or poor. The final scores are averages of these responses.

What Readers Loved

Location, location, location. When it came to selecting their favorite hotels in Berlin, Travel + Leisure readers voted for properties that put them within easy reach of the city’s top attractions. Both our winner, The Ritz-Carlton, and our runner-up, Grand Hyatt Berlin, are situated in the heart of the city, near the bustling Potsdamer Platz square, striking distance from top attractions such as Checkpoint Charlie and the Tiergarten Park. Guests of Grand Hyatt Berlin particularly loved the hotel’s Japanese-inflected Vox Restaurant — a city institution since 1998 — which has an open show kitchen and a summer terrace overlooking Potsdamer Platz. Readers also raved about 25Hours Hotel Bikini Berlin, the No. 3 spot on this year’s survey, a personality-filled boutique hotel with colorful modular sofas, rooms with hammocks, and hand-drawn wall illustrations by Japanese artist Yoshi Sislay.

After earning the runner-up spot on our 2023 survey, this 303-room icon has achieved the coveted gold prize on this year’s list. And according to our readers, it’s about time. Several respondents said it’s not just their top property in Berlin, but one of their favorite stays in the world. “While we currently have no reason to go back to the city, we would go just to stay here,” gushed one reader, who recalls being upgraded to a beautiful suite with sweeping views of the city. Another guest reminisced about staying in a Christmas-themed suite, which overlooked a winter market across the street. “It was a special treat we will always remember,” he said. Another big selling point: the hotel’s detour-worthy Curtain Club bar, where there’s regular live music and cocktails inspired by the roaring ‘20s.
