Confession: I have suitcase separation anxiety. As a travel editor who flies roughly 10 times a year, I most often choose to bring a carry-on over a checked bag because I enjoy the peace of mind that comes with my belongings being within reach. However, the reality of traveling is that you can’t always avoid checking a bag (especially for long trips). Such was the case last year, when I joined a friend on a two-week trip to Europe.

To help curb my anxiety about the possibility of lost luggage after conceding that I needed to check a bag, I ordered an Apple AirTag from Amazon to place inside my suitcase, ensuring I could track my suitcase from one flight to the next. Fortunately, if you haven’t already experienced the convenience of traveling with an Apple AirTag, now’s your chance to grab one for a steal since they’re currently on sale during Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days event for as little as $20.

Thousands of Amazon reviewers have sung the coin-sized device’s praises, claiming it’s not only helped them prevent lost luggage, but has also been useful for keeping track of their keys, wallets, and even pets. One reviewer shared that they “have been using AirTags for a couple of years now,” and have collected “five of them,” listing that they have “one attached to my keys, another in my briefcase, one in my wallet, another on my dog's collar, and one in my suitcase.” They even found it to be a major asset for travel, noting that the “latter paid for itself in spades a couple of weeks ago when my luggage was 'misplaced' by the airline for nearly five days.”

Flight attendants even swear by AirTags, with one reviewer raving that they’re “super easy to use and definitely worth the money.” The shopper also revealed that they put one in their flight attendant bag “whenever I have to check it.” This nifty gadget has become popular among travelers, as well, and you can find plenty of AirTag accessories to make tracking your gear even easier — from keychain cases to adhesive mounts that you can use to attach the tracker to bikes and sports equipment.

Setting up your Apple AirTag also couldn’t be easier. After unwrapping the compact Bluetooth tracker (which is about the size of a quarter) and pulling the plastic tag from the battery, you’ll sync it with your iPhone which will guide you through the set-up process. You can name each AirTag according to the item it will be placed in. When you want to locate your item, simply navigate to the FindMy app on your smartphone, and you’ll quickly be able to spot it on a map.

If you’re like me and are ready to check your bags worry-free, don’t miss out while singular trackers are available starting at just $25 and Apple AirTag four-packs are available starting at just $80 (read: that's just $20 per tracker) for Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days sale.
